Nurturing innovation
Our research and development group focuses on key specialism's that respond to intelligent building performance. We focus on four segments; advanced modelling, sustainability, energy and modularisation.
Advanced modelling
Advanced modelling is one of the finest assets in our R&D team. The advance modelling team offer design and analysis across a diverse and important set of capabilities helping and informing our customers of opportunity and solutions to potential risk.
The advance modelling team capability ranges from simple modelling techniques, to realistic visualisations, the examination of movement and environmental impact, to process dynamics and construction logistic and planning. It brings our clients closer to the true realisation of their project as they develop through concept, scheme, detailed design and implementation.
Sustainability
Our sustainability activity is multi-dimensional. Firstly the team sets and measures our commitment to positive project impact in respect to environmental concerns adding innovation, common sense and implementing correct behaviours.
Our commitment to sustainability is global encompassing, in addition to environmental, local community issues, build and operation logistics and funding opportunities that match our client’s key drivers and their corporate social responsibilities.
Energy
Our approach reduces management, design interfaces, duplication and clash. Process engineering skills ensure maximum recovery and income gain from technologies. We are BREEAM assessors and design fully in 3D. We are project focussed and collocated and as we are efficient we have competitive fees.
Strategy
Education
Responding positively to the needs of education in the face of changing procurement is essential.
Our research and development group have developed three levels of strategy to maximise the impact of budgets of any scale. Marrying the needs of students and educators with sustainability to provide maximum long term building value.
Modularisation
Our R&D group looks at the operational benefits and other cost savings associated with modular pre-assembly buildings. In principle, pre-assembled buildings can be applied to all construction projects, but the greatest benefits are achieved in busy, congested and high revenue sites such as railway stations, airports, motorways and shopping malls in addition to high security environment such as MoD and custodial sites where fast track methodology is desirable.
Additional benefits include the reduction of so-called ‘dirty costs’. These are the direct costs to the project associated with any construction environment, such as security costs, local transport costs and delay costs. Other benefits accrue too, such as better quality control and more programme predictability. Logistics managed by our advance modelling team can further reduce costs in clash detection and the removal of duplication.
