The existing ventilation shafts were located within densely populated urban locations adjacent to schools, residential and office locations. The upgrade of the fans had to be designed to fit within the constraints of the existing buildings requiring attention to detail in space planning the sites.

As lead designers for the project close liaison and coordination was needed with the specialist designers of the fans, attenuators, communications and acoustics to achieve the goals of the project to London Underground standards.

The locations were within residential areas with community adjacencies and were delivered under tight design and build programme constraints.
