We were appointed to design a high quality education facility for the long term benefit of pupils, teachers and the wider community. The new, 'Design and Construct', single storey primary school is located within the site of the existing St Mary’s Primary School, Hamilton.
The building accommodates 11 classrooms and provides out of hours community use to the gym and sports pitch.
A key deliverable was the development of a decant strategy of pupils and staff allowing the whole site to be taken advantage of, thus not compromising the layout or the existing teaching regime.
The new school comprising a cluster of classrooms within a teaching wing served by oversized corridors which provides general use and spill out areas. The larger gymnasium block and sports pitchs are located to the north of the site and together with the massing of the adjacent flatted residential development enclose a secure playground environment.
